When taking fishing reels apart for a rebuild\repair you want to completely clean and strip off the accumulated dirt, old oils and broken down grease off of the parts. It makes a huge difference when you do the rebuild and directly affects how well the reel works when you're done. As you're disassembling, submerge the dirty, oily metal pieces in a glass bowl containing a 50/50 mixture of the cleaner and water. This stuff is powerful so don't leave it in too long especially if they're painted\anodized colored parts. It starts working right away and can easily remove all of the paint if left in too long. If they're still a little dirty, (wearing gloves) you can scrub the parts with an old tooth brush dipped into the mixture. Rinse thoroughly with water and dry completely. Removes oil, grease, corrosion and surface rust fast. For a real deep cleaning on seriously filthy and\or corroded parts drop them in 100% undiluted cleaner for about 3-5 minutes. Wearing gloves, use a small soft wire (brass works well) brush that you can find at any Home Depot or Lowe's to clean stubborn stains\old grease & oils\corrosion etc. and then rinse thoroughly with water and dry completely. Rinse and repeat if necessary. You'll be surprised at what a great job it does and what a time-saver it is compared to regular reel cleaners.
Don't soak non-metallic parts like chromed plastic\nylon pieces or plastic\nylon\Bakelite side-plates, etc. for more than a minute using the non diluted product or you might inadvertently remove all of the chrome and most of the color. If necessary, use a stiff nylon brush to scrub them with the cleaner and always rinse thoroughly with water and dry completely.
You can also clean metal lures like Diamond jigs, Krocodiles and Hopkins spoons with a quick dip in this product and then rinsed heavily with fresh water. Don't let it sit it too long or you might remove too much of the finish, but it will remove surface rust and help extend the life of your metal lures. Afterward, you can spray the metal with WD-40 or any other light oil to help stop further corrosion. * For Cleaning Boat Hulls :
Take a couple of bottles and put them in a bucket mixed 50/50 with water. Wearing gloves, use a stiff bristle brush with a handle long enough to get all the way underneath. Scrub the hull with the solution and let sit for 5 minutes. Hose it off. Works great on hard water, mineral, rust and fish blood stains.
